Hemphill County Hospital District is proud to announce our partnership with the Rural Nursing Education Consortium (RNEC), a collaborative program led by Frank Phillips College and other hospital districts within the region.
As the newest hospital district to join this established program, we are excited to welcome our first cohort of nursing students. This partnership reflects our commitment to strengthening rural healthcare by creating educational opportunities close to home—so future nurses can learn, train, and serve in the communities they love.
Your Path to a Career in Nursing Starts Here
RNEC offers two career-building nursing programs designed to meet the needs of rural students and healthcare providers:
- Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Certificate
- A 12-month program preparing students to take the NCLEX-PN exam and become an LVN.
- All coursework and clinical hours are completed in Canadian.
- Registered Nurse (RN) Certification
- Students who complete the LVN program can seamlessly transition to Amarillo College’s Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program to earn their RN certification in just 3 additional terms.
- Graduates of the Canadian LVN program can continue their nursing education by driving to the nearby Perryton, Texas campus.
This pathway makes it possible for aspiring nurses to advance their careers without leaving the region, ensuring that more qualified professionals are available to serve rural Panhandle communities.

The mission of RNEC is simple yet powerful: To increase the number of homegrown nurses serving rural Panhandle communities by increasing access to nursing clinical education in northern Texas counties.

Meet Our Nursing Educator
CALLAN GODINO, RN
NURSING EDUCATOR
Callan Godino, RN was raised in Perryton, Texas, and graduated from Amarillo College in 2019. Since then, she has built a diverse nursing career with experience in Medical-Surgical, Labor and Delivery, Operating Room, and Emergency Medicine.
In 2025, Callan joined Hemphill County Hospital District as the instructor for LVN students in the Rural Nursing Education Consortium (RNEC) program. She is passionate about the program’s mission and the impact it will have on rural healthcare. “Being able to educate and train nurses right here at home is an amazing opportunity, and I am so blessed to have a part in teaching these new nurses,” she shares.
Callan and her husband, Logan Godino—a Canadian native—are raising two young children. With Logan’s family roots in the community, they proudly consider Canadian their second home.
